Braaains!

Yes, that dense (har) lump of Grey-matter in your skull is your brain. Without it you would be food for rats. Don't lose it.
  • The average weight of a human brain at birth is 375 g. During the next 20 years, its mass will triple.

  • Weight doesn't matter: a chimpanzee has the same brain weight (425 g) as a cow. Obviously, chimps are smarter.

  • Size doesn't matter: A sperm whale's brain is the size of your torso but we are not the ones who are an endangered species.

  • 80% of your brain is water. 10% is fat. 8% is protein. Your brain is a fat, greasy, water sack. But don't be ashamed! My brain is too.

  • Zombies are FAT! The average human brain contains 35 g of cholesterol. That is the amount of cholesterol you should eat in a YEAR! On the plus side, our brains contain no carbs! They get the Atkin's stamp of approval.

  • After 4 BILLION YEARS, we are here. The first replicating lumps of RNA had no brain, no nervous system in fact. As these grouped up to form multi-cellular organisms, basic reactions developed. We now each have over 100 Billion neurons in our brain, each connected to some 1000 others.

  • The irony is delicious, the most complex structure in our wedge of the universe, and all we use them for is to worry about the weather, food, and personal appearance...
